MetaMask is a browser extension and mobile application designed to make accessing Ethereum’s Dapp ecosystem easier. It also serves as a wallet for holding ERC-20 tokens allowing users to access services built on the network via the wallet. MetaMask provides the simplest yet most secure way to connect to blockchain-based applications. You are always in control when interacting on the new decentralized web.
MetaMask: Introduction and How To Get Started
How to get started using MetaMask:
To use MetaMask, you will need either Chrome, a Chromium-based browser such as Brave, or Firefox.

First, you’ll need to download and install the official MetaMask extension/addon for your browser; either the Google Chrome extension or the Firefox addon depending on your browser. For our guide, we’ll be using the Firefox version, but the steps are nearly identical for other browsers too.
1. Once installed, you should see the below splash screen. Click the ‘Get Started’ button to begin creating your Ethereum wallet using MetaMask:
2. On the next step, click the ‘Create a Wallet’ button:
3. You’ll then be asked if you want to help improve MetaMask. Click ‘No Thanks’ if this doesn’t interest you, otherwise click ‘I agree’:
4. Pick a password on the next step. This needs to be at least 8 characters long. We recommend using a completely unique password that hasn’t been used anywhere else, and contains a mixture of upper and lower case letters, symbols, and numbers:
5. Read and accept the Terms of Use, and click ‘Create’ once your password has been set.
6. MetaMask will then present you with your 12-word backup phrase. You’ll need to write this down in the same order displayed on your screen. This will be needed to recover your wallet should you ever lose access to your computer, and should be kept stored somewhere safe. Anybody who has access to your 12-word back phrase will be able to recover your funds, so keep it private.
Click ‘Next’ once you’ve written this down:
7. Confirm your backup phrase on the next screen by entering the words in the same order saved previously. Click ‘Confirm’ once done.
8. You have now almost completed the MetaMask setup process. Just click ‘All Done’ on the final page, and you will be automatically logged in to MetaMask. If you ever get logged out, you’ll be able to log back in again by clicking the icon added to your web browser (usually found next to the URL bar).
What next?
In general, you will then be able to access your list of assets in the ‘Assets’ tab (1) and view your transaction history in the ‘Activity’ tab (2). Sending transactions is as simple as clicking the ‘Send’ button (3):
Entering the recipient address (1) and amount to send (2), and selecting a transaction fee (3). You can also manually adjust the transaction fee using the ‘Advanced Options’ (4) button, using information from ETH Gas Station or similar platforms to choose a more suitable gas price. After clicking ‘Next’ (5), you will then be able to either confirm or reject the transaction on the subsequent page.
To use MetaMask to interact with a DApp or smart contract, you’ll usually need to find a ‘Connect to Wallet’ button or similar on the platform you are trying to use. After clicking this, you should then see a prompt asking whether you want to let the DApp connect to your wallet. The below example is for the Nimbus Platform.
Nimbus Platform: How to connect to MetaMask
To connect your MetaMask wallet with the Nimbus platform follow the next steps:
1. Go to the right corner and push the “Connect MetaMask” button.
2. At the MetaMask connection popup menu, select your wallet and click the Next button:
3. In the next step click the Connect button.
4. Accept your signature at the Signature Request menu:
Done! Now you can Sign in to Nimbus Platform using your MetaMask wallet!
How to: Sign in to Nimbus Platform using your MetaMask wallet!
1.Click Sign In by MetaMask button at login form:
2.Accept your Sign at MetaMask popup menu:
Congratulations! Now you're into Nimbus Platform!
How to: Create a second account on MetaMask:
1. Click into your MetaMask extension icon:
2. Click the favicon (your account image) on the top right of your MetaMask pop up:
3. Click the “+Create account” button:
4. Enter your preferred account name (or keep default otherwise) on the New Account page:
Congratulations! A new MetaMask account is created.
How to: Login to second Nimbus account using the same MetaMask extension:
1. Create a new account:
2. Connect your MetaMask account to Nimbus platform:
3. To log in with another account:
- Log out from Nimbus Platform
- Open your MetaMask extension
- Choose the second account at the accounts list:
- Click “Login with MetaMask” button:
Congratulations! Now you logged into Numbus Platform by the second MetaMask account using the same extension!

En primer lugar, tendrá que descargar e instalar la extensión/addon oficial de Metamask para su navegador; ya sea la extensión de Google Chrome o el complemento de Firefox dependiendo de su navegador. Cualquiera que tenga acceso a su frase de 12 palabras será capaz de recuperar sus fondos, así que manténgala privada.
Haga clic en “Siguiente” una vez que haya escrito esto:

Introduzca la dirección del destinatario (1) y la cantidad a enviar (2), y seleccione una tarifa de transacción (3). También puede ajustar manualmente la tarifa de transacción utilizando el botón “Opciones avanzadas” (4), utilizando información del gas ETH o plataformas similares para elegir un precio de gas más adecuado. Después de hacer clic en “Siguiente/Next” (5), podrá confirmar o rechazar la transacción en la página siguiente.
Para usar MetaMask para interactuar con una DApp o contrato inteligente, por lo general necesitará encontrar un botón “Conectarse a la Wallet” o similar en la plataforma que está tratando de usar. Cómo crear una segunda cuenta en MetaMask:
- Haga clic en el icono de extensión de MetaMask:
